About the Gathering
At Samhain, we pause at the turning toward winter. We remember those who have shaped our lives, make room for both grief and gratitude, and consider what we want to carry forward.
At the Ancestor’s Hearth is a welcoming, earth-centered gathering shaped by Cayla’s animistic hedge-witch practice and inspired by European seasonal traditions. Through ritual, reflection, creativity, and shared food, we’ll explore remembrance, the boundaries that help us feel rooted, and the care we offer in return for what we have received.
You may honor ancestors of blood, heart, or craft: those who gave you life, those who became family through love, and those whose teachings helped you find your way. A beloved animal, someone whose name has been lost, or a person whose kindness changed your life may also have a place at our hearth.
There is no expectation that you receive a message or share a personal story. Every activity is optional, and its meaning will be explained as we go. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or entirely new to ritual, you are welcome.
What to Expect
• A welcoming circle, grounding, and altar blessing
• Honoring the ancestors and the living world
• A guided ancestor journey, with space to remember, speak inwardly, or listen
• A black-red-white knotted remembrance cord, with optional sharing as we create
• Passing the hearth fire, light by light, with a candle to carry home
• A closing followed by a seasonal community potluck
• Optional divination during the potluck
Our entire gathering takes place within 2:00–4:00 PM , leaving time for Halloween plans and trick-or-treating afterward.
The Community Table
Please bring a dish to share if you’re able . You are welcome at the table whether or not you bring food. Please bring dishes ready to serve and label their ingredients and common allergens.
You may also bring a photo, name, or small meaningful object for the ancestor altar. Bringing an item is entirely optional, and you can take it home afterward.
Donations & Community Support
This gathering is offered through Radiant Healing Arts Center’s Community Sponsored Class Program , helping make holistic health practices more accessible to our community.
The suggested donation is $20 per person. This is a donation-based gathering; please contribute what feels appropriate and sustainable for you. You are welcome regardless of your ability to donate.
Proceeds support both the center and facilitator, helping sustain accessible community offerings and the people who bring them to life. Your support is greatly appreciated!
RSVP and Participation
RSVP is requested so we can prepare enough candles and remembrance-cord materials for everyone. If you’d like to bring a potluck item or help hold a small ritual role, such as welcoming a direction, assisting with the altar, or supporting hospitality, you can express your interest through the same form. Guidance and speaking parts will be provided.
RSVP, Ritual Roles & Potluck Sign-Up
Please let Cayla know when registering if you have food allergies, smoke or fragrance sensitivities, or an accessibility accommodation that would help you participate.
About Cayla
Cayla is the practitioner behind WYLD WAYFYNDING and the facilitator of WYLD Rhythms.
