ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out at the new Oklahoma Aviation Academy construction site at Max Westheimer Airport around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday but was quickly contained (confined to a portion of the roof) and poses no threat to the building; fire marshals are investigating the cause. OU Daily

- ➤ Yellow Dog Coffee Co.'s drive-thru on Alameda St is temporarily closed for renovations that involve replacing vinyl flooring and moving heavy equipment. Operations manager (Lilly Braun) said nothing customer-facing will change as the business expects to resume service in a few days. OU Daily
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma public schools have joined the Local Food for Schools program to receive fresh, minimally processed food from local farms, with state funding of up to $25,000 per month and a $3.2 million allocation that supports farm-to-table learning (Brady Womack explained the plan). The Oklahoman
- ➤ Oklahoma lawmakers Rep. Caldwell and Sen. Seifried have filed bills that would permanently ban student cellphone use during school hours in public schools. The proposals will be considered when the legislative session begins Feb. 2. The Oklahoman

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A Phase III trial published on Jan. 20 found proton therapy raised five-year survival rates by 10% & reduced side effects for head and neck cancer patients, including 5 OU patients, compared to photon therapy. The study enrolled 440 people from 21 institutions. KGOU
