  • OKC Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein donated to City Rescue Mission on Friday to support homeless residents during a heavy winter storm. His contribution helped the shelter at 800 West California Avenue increase meals + housing capacity for those in need.  The Oklahoman

CULTURE NEWS

  • OU professor and alum Christina Giacona has four Grammy-nominated works in roles covering producing, engineering, mix engineering + choral production. She will attend the Grammy Awards on Feb. 1 at the Crypto.com Arena while her upcoming local projects show her enduring commitment to fostering Oklahoma talent.  OU Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawmakers outlined education priorities (boosting K‑12 literacy through third‑grade retention and summer academies and improving teacher retention) and proposed limiting scholarship benefits for international students in higher ed during the upcoming session.  KGOU
  • OU Undergraduate Student Congress held a Zoom meeting Tuesday, Jan. 27 — to appoint seven committee chairs, 12 executive cabinet members, and a chief of staff amid winter storm road closures. The appointments were decided by votes and interviews that emphasized passion and vision.  OU Daily
  • The OU Board of Regents will review contracts for athletic director Roger Denny, tight ends coach Jason Witten, and other coaching staff at a meeting Jan. 29-30 at OU.
