- ➤ Students at the OU School of Dance will showcase original choreography at the Young Choreographers’ Showcase — featuring 10 pieces by upper-level students in collaboration with lighting design students — today through Sunday at Elsie C. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Darcy Pippins, a Spanish teacher at Norman High, and Randall Kolar, a professor at U of O, were named recipients of Oklahoma’s Medal for Excellence in teaching — one of only five awards statewide handed out by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. The Norman Transcript
- ➤ Oklahoma lawmakers plan to overhaul literacy policies by proposing Senate Bill 1778, which will require summer academies and targeted reading interventions for early learners statewide. The changes aim to boost student progress after state tests revealed a longstanding gap in reading skills. KGOU
- ➤ OU Career Closet is hosting a free clothing event today at the OU Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students, faculty and staff to pick up professional attire donated by local supporters— donations are accepted year‑round. OU Daily
- ➤ OU partners with Cherokee Nation to build a $30 million nursing school satellite campus in Tahlequah. Online courses will start this fall for nurses and the physical campus is set to open in 2027 to help address local health care staffing needs. OU Daily

- ➤ OU football secured its first 2028 commitment Thursday night when four-star running back Micah Rhodes chose the Sooners over Texas and Texas A&M. Rhodes, ranked No. 1 among running backs by 247Sports (the Houston native), strengthens the Sooners' recruiting class. The Oklahoman
- ➤ OU hired Roger Denny as its new athletic director today, and he will help drive the development of University North Park entertainment district. Denny brings project expertise from his work on Ballpark Village in St. Louis + he is expected to support long-term growth in the area. OU Daily
