CULTURE NEWS

  • Sooner Theatre’s production of 42nd Street, featuring two casts of eighth to twelfth graders, opened Thursday and runs through Sunday with performances at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. This musical adapts the classic Broadway plot about a small town girl’s big break — showcasing local talent every night.  OU Daily
  • OU Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre will perform Stephen Sondheim's 'Company' today at 8 p.m. at Elsie C. Brackett Theatre with additional shows on March 7 and 8. The production explores relationships and life in 1970s New York using creative scenic design and costuming.  OU Daily
  • Eight collegiate dance teams from across the nation will compete at the 31st annual Bollywood fusion dance event Norman Nachle. The competition hosted by OU’s South Asian Student Association will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday + Reynolds Performing Arts Center.  OU Daily

  • A statewide survey found 500+ parents support raising test cut scores to ensure state assessments accurately measure student achievement. Reforms in 2025 restored rigorous standards after 2024’s lower benchmarks, and education leaders must keep consistency to rebuild parent trust.  The Oklahoman
  • Two alumni - former News 9 sports director Dean Blevins and CalArts president Ravi Rajan - were inducted into the Norman Public School Foundation Hall of Honor on Wednesday during a ceremony at the NPS Center for Arts and Learning.  The Norman Transcript

  • Lawmakers are reviewing Senate Bill 2, which would impose extra setback requirements for wind turbines, limiting energy projects and potentially raising household bills as they balance property rights with energy needs.
