- ➤ Gov. Kevin Stitt said Mark Goeller, the state’s chief forester with 40 years of experience who led the agency since 2018, resigned after wildfires burned over 170,000 acres, killed four people, and destroyed more than 400 homes. Goeller’s resignation, effective Monday, came amid criticism of the agency’s response to the fires—officials have not provided additional details about his departure. KGOU
- ➤ Gov. Kevin Stitt requested federal disaster aid for areas hit by wildfires and high winds after damage assessments began on March 15—joint evaluations with FEMA and the SBA started on March 17.
