  • Local nonprofits and businesses now offer emergency shelters, food pantries, clothing, health and legal services at multiple Norman locations. SPORTS NEWS

  • High school sports fans can vote in the spring girls athlete of the week poll, presented by Landmark Fine Homes, on Oklahoman.com until noon Sunday. Nominees include local talent like a standout golfer from Edmond who won at Norman's Westwood Golf Course (others compete in soccer, softball and track).  The Oklahoman
  • After practice on Monday, March 30, OU football offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle said tight ends coach Jason Witten was a joy to work with (he also mentioned quarterback John Mateer).  The Oklahoman
  • College softball rankings released Monday, Mar. 30 showed Texas maintained its No. 1 spot and Texas Tech held at No. 2 while Tennessee dropped to No. 9 after losing to Ole Miss in Knoxville (six of the top eight teams moved in the poll).  The Oklahoman
  • OU linebacker Kip Lewis chose to return to play to boost his draft stock and help the team chase a national championship after discussions with family and coaches. His decision strengthens the Sooners as he now leads an inexperienced linebacking corps.  The Oklahoman
  • OU freshman Aaliyah Chavez was named ESPN’s National Freshman of the Year after averaging 18.4 points per game and leading the team on a Sweet 16 run, marking a record-setting debut. Her coach said Chavez is focused on growth and preparing for next season— building on a strong first year.  The Oklahoman
  • On Monday, March 30, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 47 points as the Thunder won 114-110 in overtime against Detroit; the win marked their 60th victory + built a 2.5-game lead over the Spurs + set a historic record for back-to-back 60-win seasons.  The Oklahoman
