  • Recent Norman sales tax receipts show that after OU joined the SEC, football season revenues reached roughly $9 million monthly, while graduation weekend receipts dropped by up to $600,000 compared with Big 12 years; officials say marquee match-ups drive more visitors + boost local businesses.  OU Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OU students will meet with over 50 legislators on Tuesday, Apr. 7 at the state capitol as part of Higher Education Day. Organized by OU’s Student Government Association, the event lets students from multiple universities discuss funding, scholarships and higher education policy with local lawmakers.  OU Daily

  • After defeating the Pistons, OKC Thunder need five wins to clinch the No. 1 seed in the West as they remain two games ahead of the Spurs with six games left before playoffs.  The Oklahoman
  • Oklahoma football added Isaac Coughran (6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman) as its seventh commitment in March during Future Freaks weekend in Norman. He was recruited from Katy and will return to campus in May.  The Oklahoman
  • On Monday, March 31, OU basketball coach Porter Moser said he appreciated AD Roger Denny's decision to give him a sixth year, noting improved resources for men’s basketball (after a challenging season) as he prepares his roster with the transfer portal opening soon.  The Oklahoman
  • Oklahoma Sooners coach Brent Venables called last season’s run game 'pathetic' and is making changes by hiring a new running backs coach (Deland McCullough) and testing an outside zone in practice. He aims to improve the offense by refining fundamentals for the upcoming season.  The Oklahoman
  • On Monday night, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 47 points as the Thunder beat the Pistons 114-110 in overtime for their 60th win, extending his record to 136 consecutive games with at least 20 points.
