  • Governor Kevin Stitt proclaimed July 8 as Toby Keith Day during Oklahoma Film and Music Day on April 7 at the Capitol — honoring Norman native Toby Keith who would have turned 65. He will receive the Special Directors’ Award at the Western Heritage Awards on April 11.  The Oklahoman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • House Bill 3151 will extend the school calendar from 166 to 173 days starting in the 2027–28 school year if an additional $175 million is approved for education; the bill passed the Senate Education committee 7–3 and now heads to a full Senate vote.  News9

  • OU football coach Brent Venables said running back Xavier Robinson experienced only a minor strain during practice on April 8, letting younger players get needed reps to boost the run game. Robinson is expected to miss the rest of spring camp, which may shift the team’s approach.  The Oklahoman
