  • OU will host its annual Big Event for service in Norman on Saturday. Students, faculty, and staff will volunteer at 165 sites for tasks such as home repairs and park clean-ups, with free breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on the North Oval before activities start at 10:00 a.m.  OU Daily

  • Norman and Oklahoma City will offer an exciting weekend with arts and family events; Norman hosts a free Medieval Fair at Reaves Park and an art walk, while Oklahoma City stages a putt-putt block party + outdoor activities.  OU Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Norman’s Red Dirt Collective joined Raise the Wage Oklahoma + former Congressman Joe Kennedy III in canvassing for State Question 832 in Midwest City on Thursday. The measure will gradually raise the state’s minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 over three years.  The Norman Transcript

HEALTH NEWS

  • HB 3904 would change SoonerCare payments for prenatal, delivery and postpartum care so doctors can tailor treatment to each patient’s needs — aiming to improve follow-up and reduce complications for mothers and babies.  The Oklahoman
  • OU School of Dance hosts free Dance for Parkinson's classes that help with balance, coordination and community for participants and caregivers.   • At Norman's spring practice on Thursday, Oklahoma football had several players miss the session because of injuries; linebacker Taylor Heim was notably absent and five receivers did not attend while some teammates began returning to drills.  The Oklahoman
  • No. 2-ranked OU softball will face No. 4 Texas in a three-game series in Austin, where coach Patty Gasso said the team practiced with artificial crowd noise (a tactic to simulate a hostile crowd) to prepare for a tough road to the SEC championship.  The Oklahoman
