COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Norman Native Plant Festival returns this Saturday as vendors gather at Stash — 412 E Main St. and education activities run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Up Together Venue — 428 E Main St. The festival will feature native plants that boost blooms and support local pollinators.  The Oklahoman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two weeks ago, The Virtue Center in Norman received a letter from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health saying that funding will be cut by 50%—this change may affect the center's services for 1,500 clients each year and lead to job losses. The center now must explore new ways to continue supporting those in need.  News9

HEALTH NEWS

  • OSDH reported a measles exposure at the Aldi Grocery Store on NW Expressway between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on April 6—individuals who may have been exposed and are not immune are urged to call the health department at 405 426 8000 and avoid public places for 21 days.  The Oklahoman

SPORTS NEWS

  • A record 9,259 fans filled every seat at Devon Park as Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State 11-3 in a college softball game, setting a new regular-season attendance record. Fans lined up nearly two hours early and created an electric atmosphere that made the match historic for the state.  The Oklahoman
  • OU's running back group is strong with veterans Gavin Sawchuk and Jovantae Barnes and sophomores Taylor Tatum and Xavier Robinson—players who saw significant time last season. Sawchuk said he is taking on a leadership role as Barnes recovers from an injury and the team adjusts to coach Arbuckle's new offense.  The Oklahoman
  • After a season that set a franchise record for wins, the OKC Thunder ranked as the league’s top seed and are building playoff hopes.
