- ➤ Yesterday, the state Senate Energy Committee passed bills to boost funding for plugging over 20,000 abandoned wells and to extend the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board to 2031 — the new plan would raise the well-plugging fund from about $2.5 million to up to $20 million annually. In Norman, workers at the Starbucks on Mt. Williams Drive voted 15-2 to unionize, and Governor Stitt accused the Muscogee Nation of stalling a bill that would let the Turnpike Authority use law enforcement toll data. KGOU
- ➤ On Thursday, a federal judge in Oklahoma City threw out former Norman teacher Summer Boismier’s defamation lawsuit against state Superintendent Ryan Walters because she became a public figure during her national controversy over book censorship— the judge ruled she did not prove the actual malice needed to win her case. - ➤ The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported 12 measles cases in the state, all among people without vaccination records—up from 10 cases in an earlier update. The department advised anyone who visited the Aldi Grocery Store at 6965 Northwest Expressway on April 6th between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and who is not vaccinated to call 405 426 8000 and stay away from public places for 21 days.
