🎓 Education
Governor Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 1778 at John Rex Charter Elementary School to change how third-graders are promoted, requiring retention if they score below reading benchmarks unless exempt, starting in the 2027-28 school year — new supports including literacy coaches will be implemented to boost early reading skills.
🏛️ Government
Gov. Stitt vetoed a bill Monday to extend the advisory council on Indian Education's sunset date until July 1 (its last meeting on April 15 was canceled) as he deemed it redundant and dormant.
