  • Officials warned that text messages claiming unpaid toll charges are scams and urged drivers to verify any toll fees on the PlatePay website rather than click on suspicious links & noted that several fake websites were deactivated as of April 23.  The Oklahoman

CULTURE NEWS

  • Norman Music Festival 2025 started on April 24th and will run through April 26th with hundreds of artists performing downtown — it began with one stage on the first day and expands to four stages on Friday and Saturday while remaining free for everyone.  News9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 23, Gov Stitt said Muscogee Nation officials tried to bypass him by seeking a special deal with lawmakers to extend car tag and tobacco tax compacts. Muscogee Nation Principal Chief David Hill said the governor added extra demands to a deal they had already reached—adding that his nation is engaging only with respectful government partners.  The Oklahoman
  • State Auditor Cindy Byrd reported that the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office overspent its approved $18.36 million budget by about $4 million during fiscal 2024 and noted over 300 instances of possible purchasing law violations—county officials and the District Attorney’s office will review the report for next steps.  OU Daily
