EDUCATION NEWS

  • School counselor Pamela Keller at Insight School of Oklahoma urges parents to consider mental well-being along with academics when choosing between traditional and online learning models — online classes offer flexible schedules that help students reduce stress and thrive academically.  The Oklahoman
  • New education laws signed by Gov. Stitt will give public school teachers a minimum $2,000 pay raise and K-5 students 40 minutes of recess daily starting July 1 — the school year also will extend to 173 days pending additional funding.   The Oklahoman

SPORTS NEWS

  • OU Baseball is projected to be a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament — selection is at 11 a.m. today; the Sooners lost 6-2 to LSU in the SEC Tournament and ranked No. 21 in RPI entering conference play.  The Oklahoman
  • OU softball catcher Kendall Wells was struck in the face by a pitch during Game 3 of the Super Regional against Mississippi State yesterday in Norman. She left for treatment but returned with a bag of ice on her face as coach Patty Gasso said the incident rattled the team.  The Oklahoman
  • The Thunder rallied for a comeback victory last Friday in a fierce Western Conference series with the Spurs as key players delivered strong plays + overcame injuries; local fans remain excited for the next game.  The Oklahoman
  • OU softball missed the WCWS after Mississippi State shut out the Sooners 6-0 in Game 3 of the Norman Super Regional on Sunday. The loss ended a nine-year streak as Coach Patty Gasso’s team failed to score for the first time since 2015.  The Oklahoman
