  • Paul Chambers, an Oklahoma-born political science lecturer, was cleared on May 30 of defamation charges in Thailand after evidence was deemed insufficient under the strict lese majeste law—his dismissal from Naresuan University and visa revocation remain under appeal.  News9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma lawmakers passed five new laws that will let people forage for morel mushrooms on state land, require clear records requests, force hospitals to post prices or face penalties, make it a felony for school leaders to skip reporting child abuse, and ban ratepayer-funded appliance rebates from utilities; these measures will take effect on Nov 1 or July 1 and come as Governor Kevin Stitt allowed 234 bills to become law without his signature.  The Oklahoman

  • OU softball player Ella Parker hit a 236-foot walk-off home run to beat Tennessee 4-3 in the WCWS on May 29th, and her father and teammates celebrated the big win in the stands—she fought through injuries to help her team reach this key moment.  The Oklahoman
