CRIME NEWS

  • Five people were arrested Sunday, June 1st at 8:59 a.m. for allegedly smuggling drugs into Cleveland County Detention Center when staff found contraband during routine checks—two women and three inmates were taken into custody and the investigation remains ongoing.  News9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mid-Del Schools completed a two-day training on the 'I Love U Guys' Standard Reunification Method that uses a controlled process for parents to safely pick up their children from a designated site—each school’s safety committee will implement this protocol when students return in the fall.  News9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers ended the 2025 session on June 1 with a state budget that included a tax cut and more money for public education and infrastructure. They left key issues—like mental health priorities and revenue generation—unresolved as they set the stage for the 2026 elections.  News9

SPORTS NEWS

  • OKC Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said he respects the Pacers for the way they play together on both defense and offense — making them a tough Finals opponent. The teams will start their NBA Finals clash with Game 1 on Thursday, June 5.  The Oklahoman
  • After an 11-5 loss to North Carolina, Sooners head coach Skip Johnson stressed that early mistakes can give opponents momentum. The team then corrected its errors as the offense exploded in a 17-1 blowout win over Nebraska.  The Norman Transcript
  • OU softball coach Patty Gasso said her team’s win over Oregon was bittersweet because she called former assistant Melyssa Lombardi a sister. Gasso, who is 64—3 against former assistants, said she was proud of her staff after they ended Oregon’s season and celebrated with a postgame prayer circle.  The Oklahoman
  • Today, the OU softball team faces Texas Tech at 6 p.m. CT at Devon Park in Oklahoma City in the Women’s College World Series, as they must beat Texas Tech twice to advance. If needed, a second game will take place at 8:30 p.m.—adding another chance for OU to move closer to the finals.  The Oklahoman
