CRIME NEWS

  • Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced Monday that Richard Glossip will be retried for the 1997 murder of Barry Van Treese without facing the death penalty—he now faces a potential life sentence while key witness Justin Sneed remains in prison for life.  The Oklahoman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, June 9th, Oklahoma colleges were allowed to pay athletes directly after a multi-billion-dollar settlement ended federal lawsuits against the NCAA—Gov. Stitt said the state must set clear contract rules to manage athlete transfers and recruiting to maintain fairness. This decision marks a major change that could impact college sports while legislators prepare to discuss further details.  News9
  • Today, Norman City Council will review the 2026 budget, construction contracts for bridge and drainage projects, and an agreement with Norman Regional Hospital Authority to support paratransit services. The council will also hear a presentation on the Westwood Park master plan that details renovations to the park and golf course (including project timelines for the golf course, clubhouse, and sports area).  OU Daily
