  • Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams donated nearly 100 clothing items to be auctioned off online by Goodwill Central Oklahoma on July 10. All proceeds will support the nonprofit’s youth employment programs plus one pair of his signed shoes will be featured at the Work the Runway Fashion Show on August 8.  News9

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 10-year-old boy from Norman saved a 17-year-old at a Fourth of July pool party on July 10th when he noticed his friend was not resurfacing in an aboveground pool—party guests performed CPR and called 911 as the teen was taken to OU Children's Hospital, where doctors said he has no lasting harm.  News9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Norman Public Schools Board of Education approved a bell-to-bell cellphone ban for students on campus for the 2025-26 school year as required by Senate Bill 139 from Gov. Kevin Stitt. The policy includes exceptions for emergencies and off-campus lunch for high school students — officials will discuss further details with staff this month — to help students focus on classroom learning.  OU Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Heartland Flyer, Oklahoma's only passenger rail service, will run for another year after receiving $3.5 million in regional toll revenue funds that will keep it operating beyond its planned shutdown on October 1. Local leaders applauded the funding vote as it supports travel and tourism across the region.  News9
