EDUCATION NEWS

  • Oklahoma is reviewing new textbooks to see if they meet state social studies standards that include conservative values, American exceptionalism, and biblical references—publishers have mostly made only minimal changes or withdrawn their materials. A committee of educators presented the submissions last week and will continue evaluations until October before voting in November as legal challenges to the standards continue.  The Oklahoman

  • State Rep. J.J. Humphrey announced his campaign for lieutenant governor Monday at an event hosted by the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association, adding his name to the list of candidates for the 2026 race.   • KGOU is preparing to adjust operations after Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, leaving the station about $215,000 short a year starting October 1 — station leaders plan to rely on donations and sponsorships to cover the gap and continue serving local listeners.  KGOU
