- ➤ The Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman is hosting a snow exhibit that uses interactive wintry activities—like growing snowflakes and learning about oral histories—to show snow’s global role, and it remains open until Aug. 17. News9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the Department of Justice asked for voter registration data from Oklahoma to strengthen federal election law enforcement. Oklahoma officials have not yet said how they will respond—privacy advocates worry the broad request could risk voter privacy ahead of upcoming elections. News9
- ➤ Former Governor George Nigh, Oklahoma’s longest-serving governor, was honored at the State Capitol on Monday, August 4th when visitors paid their respects. A public memorial service is scheduled for August 14 at Crossings Community Church — community members and state officials will gather to remember his decades of bipartisan leadership. News9
- ➤ Oklahoma City planned to shift inmates charged with minor offenses to the Cleveland County Detention Center and agreed to pay $68 per inmate per day as well as up to $75,000 in emergency medical costs—if the deal approved by the Oklahoma County Commission on Monday moves forward, the Oklahoma City Council will decide on it on Aug. 12th. The agreement also requires the Cleveland facility to meet state jail standards and submit quarterly reports. News9
