  • The University of Oklahoma enrolled 6,251 freshmen on Tuesday, August 26th, setting the record for the largest freshman class in state history. The milestone marks the fifth straight year of record enrollment + shows strong growth as new residence halls and labs are planned for the Norman campus.  News9

  • OU Police Chief Nate Tarver, who became Moore's first Black officer in 1970, will retire on September 19 after 46 years in law enforcement — university officials have not yet named his successor.  News9
  • HUD's proposed two-year rental assistance limit puts 32,300 Oklahomans—18,400 of whom are children—at risk of eviction as rising rents and low wages force families into tough choices. Housing experts warn that landlords will also face challenges with tenant leases and affordability gaps as the policy moves forward.  KGOU
  • A committee selected four candidates on Monday to be interviewed for the next Ward 5 council seat, including Norman Transcript editor Ben Fenwick.
