EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the University of Oklahoma announced that it will launch the Oklahoma Center for Education Policy this fall to produce research and guide policy for better public education. The center will help state lawmakers, school leaders and families work on strategies to improve test scores and build a skilled workforce.  The Oklahoman

SPORTS NEWS

  • Last Saturday, OU's rushing attack struggled against Illinois State as the team managed only 103 rushing yards while prized transfer Jaydn Ott, limited by a shoulder injury, had one carry—coach Arbuckle said he is not worried about Ott and expects him to find his role as the season moves forward.  The Oklahoman
  • Oklahoma college football teams posted mixed Week 1 results as OU won 35 to 3 over Illinois State, OSU won 27 to 7 over UT Martin despite its quarterback injury, Tulsa beat Abilene Christian 35 to 7, Northeastern State upset Saginaw Valley 28 to 21, and Oklahoma Panhandle State edged Peru State 10 to 9, while Central Oklahoma, Langston and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M lost their games. Several teams including East Central, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Baptist, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Southwestern Oklahoma State will play their first games later this week — setting a busy start for Oklahoma football.  The Oklahoman
  • Memorial Stadium in Norman will host a college football game between the undefeated Sooners and Wolverines on Saturday, September 6th at 7:30 p.m. ET. Tickets start at $319 & fans can choose lower level endzone seats for a closer view.  The Oklahoman
