CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies responded yesterday near 300th and Coyle Drive in Blanchard for a welfare check and found two people dead—authorities said—and a suspect remains barricaded inside the home as they await extra resources.  News9

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Smokin' Oaks, an emerging Red Dirt rock band from Yukon, Oklahoma, are set to perform at the Born & Raised music festival today at Rockin Red Dirt Ranch in Pryor, which runs until Sept. 13. They are working on a debut album and a music video for their cover of Banditos as they tour Oklahoma and Texas.  The Oklahoman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, September 9th, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the Diocese of Tulsa announced Saint Carlo Acutis Classical Academy—a private online school for kindergarten through 8th grade that opened in August after the Supreme Court blocked plans for a publicly funded charter school.  News9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Harold Hamm called on Oklahoma to require lap-shoulder seat belts on every school bus in an op-ed published after the Minco bus crash. He proposed a phased plan starting with activity buses in 2025 and then extending to rural and in-town buses—adding an extra layer of protection for children.  News9
  • On Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, the Cleveland County Detention Center introduced 550 tablets for inmate education—providing access to books, music, family communication, and commissary orders from 7:00 a.m. until lights out.  News9

SPORTS NEWS

  • OU football coach Brent Venables announced the team will use a running back committee to find a steady ball carrier and boost the rushing attack ahead of the Temple game—with offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle emphasizing the need for players to help in both running and pass protection as the season unfolds.
