GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is set to begin improvements on Interstate 40 bridges over Meridian Avenue and MacArthur Boulveard — the project is expected to ease traffic congestion along one of the area’s busiest corridors.  The Oklahoman
  • Brandon Nofire was sworn into office Tuesday after being unanimously approved to fill the Ward 5 seat on Norman City Council—he was nominated by the Ward 5 Selection Committee after interviewing four candidates.  The Norman Transcript
  • The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority will hold a live stream event on Sept. 23 to reveal the revised south extension turnpike alignment and three meetings on Sept. 24, 27, and 29 at locations in Norman and Noble—these changes follow a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation ruling and aim to reduce heavy I-35 traffic with the project set to open by 2034.  KGOU
  • The Oklahoma Supreme Court upheld Gov. Kevin Stitt’s order for state employees to return to in-person work, affirming a March ruling that Rep. Andy Fugate lacked legal standing to challenge the order. Gov. Stitt said taxpayers should see state workers in the office—though over 8,500 employees continue working remotely under special exceptions.  The Oklahoman
