- ➤ OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. sent a mass email announcing that Derek Fuller will begin as chief of police and associate vice president on Oct. 13—he will work with deputy chiefs to enhance campus public safety and manage emergency plans. Fuller, who has held roles at Alamo Colleges and the FBI, replaces retired Chief Nate Tarver. OU Daily

- ➤ Oklahoma is ranked among the nation’s top ten for suicide, with about two residents dying each day as rates have steadily risen over the past decade. Communities are closing treatment gaps and reducing stigma by urging mental health to be treated like physical health—efforts that may save lives. News9

- ➤ The Oklahoman has launched a fall boys sports athletes of the week poll for Sept. 29-Oct. 5 presented by Landmark Fine Homes with voting open until noon Sunday.
