At Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday, Oklahoma State football lost 39-17 to Houston after an early 7-0 lead and a tied 10 before Houston scored two touchdowns in the first half—OSU also suffered injuries including cornerback Jaylin Davies’ leg injury as quarterback rotations and offensive struggles continued to hamper their bid for a first Big 12 win since 2023.

On Oct. 11, OU football lost 23-6 to Texas in Dallas as returning quarterback John Mateer, coming back from right hand surgery, completed 52.6% of his passes for 202 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Fans on social media were divided while Mateer said in the post-game press conference that he felt no pain and surgery did not excuse his performance.

OU offensive tackle Derek Simmons was injured in the second quarter against Texas when the Sooners led 3-0, which leaves the team with a weakened offensive line as Stanford transfer Luke Baklenko replaces him after Logan Howland missed travel last week due to injury.
