CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma will mark Indigenous Peoples Day today with events featuring tipi raisings, traditional dances and cultural displays across the state. In Norman, MAINSITE Contemporary Art hosts a celebration with wine and light snacks from 6 to 8 p.m.—and OU’s American Indian Student Association offers workshops and festivities from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.—to help residents connect with Native traditions. - ➤ Economist Mark Zandi of Moody’s Analytics said that while 21 states and Washington, DC are in a recession, Oklahoma is growing as local businesses build inventories and customer spending increases. - ➤ College football teams across Oklahoma ended Week 7 with mixed results—Oklahoma lost 23—6 to Texas in the Red River Rivalry while Oklahoma State fell 39—17 to Houston, and wins came for Central Oklahoma, East Central, Northeastern State, Oklahoma Baptist, Langston and Oklahoma Panhandle State, with Tulsa and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on bye.
