  • With SNAP benefits at risk of suspension on November 1, Mission Norman is overwhelmed as families line up outside and shelves run empty — the pantry, which served 800 families last month, may limit items and calls for food and monetary donations to help meet record demand.  News9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OU is considering converting Traditions East into first-year housing to handle rising enrollment and may force upperclassmen plus international students to seek off-campus options. OU President Joseph Harroz said the plan is still in discussion — details will be shared once decisions are finalized.  OU Daily

  • Attorney General Gentner Drummond sent a letter to OHCA director Clay Bullard demanding answers on managed Medicaid failures—citing low reimbursements and payment delays that hurt small providers—and warned that without quick fixes, many children in our local communities could lose care.  KGOU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Infant Crisis Services is expanding its aid for families with babies and toddlers by offering extra visits and a free week of diapers, formula, food, and essential items to help offset the upcoming SNAP suspension on November 1. The nonprofit will provide this additional support at its headquarters and BabyMobile through December 23 — ensuring that families affected by the government shutdown receive critical help.  The Oklahoman

  • No. 8 Ole Miss will come to Norman this weekend to play against Oklahoma’s strong defense led by coach Brent Venables. Coach Lane Kiffin’s team, led by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, will test a defense that works hard — setting up an important college football game.  News9
  • Mount St. Mary High School junior Berkley Loper, who began playing football in middle school, was named to the junior class homecoming court and serves as the backup center on the team. Coach JD Runnels said her toughness on the offensive line inspires her teammates and young women in the community, and she hopes to play college football.  News9
