CULTURE NEWS

  • Producer Daryl LeFever made 'Sarah’s Oil,' a historical drama about Sarah Rector that was filmed in the Tulsa area using Cherokee Nation film programs and Oklahoma's film incentives—he says working with the local crew feels like coming home. The film debuted in movie theaters nationwide on Friday, Nov. 7 and employed 124 local crew members.  The Oklahoman
  • Oklahoma bookstores in Edmond, Ponca City, Oklahoma City, Norman, and Tulsa have compiled their bestselling books based on total sales. The list ranks top titles in fiction, nonfiction and children’s categories—featuring authors such as Louise Penny, John Grisham and Harper Lee.  The Oklahoman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Rep. Ellen Pogemiller led an interim study hearing to explore why students miss school—speakers from Norman, Moore, Yukon, Tulsa and Sand Springs stressed that schools need outside help. Additional education news shows OKCPS will bring the Oklahoma Originals program to third-graders and a local student was elected national FFA president for the upcoming school year.  The Oklahoman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to the government shutdown that started a week ago, metro childcare programs have paused subsidy funding and raised concerns as parents may have to leave school-aged children unsupervised—posing potential risks. Rainbow Fleet Early Education reported that while most of its 108 children are private pay, the 11 who rely on DHS funding could face safety challenges when parents work.  News9

SPORTS NEWS

  • The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents will vote Monday in Oklahoma City on plans to renovate the west side of Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium with new premium seating, an upgraded press box, and a sideline lighting system—part of a master plan that also includes $41.7 million in upgrades to L. Dale Mitchell Park for Sooners baseball. The board will also let the president negotiate contracts for design and construction work as the projects move toward building after the 2027 season.  News9
  • The OKC Thunder will play the Memphis Grizzlies at 5 p.m. today at FedExForum (in Memphis) and fans can watch the game on FanDuel Sports Network (live coverage). The Thunder recently beat the Sacramento Kings while the Grizzlies snapped a four-game losing streak.  The Oklahoman
  • After a 33–27 win over Tennessee in Knoxville and a tough loss to Ole Miss in Norman, analysts Toby Rowland and Chris Williams reviewed key plays and award winners as the Sooners adjusted their game plan. They also previewed upcoming challenges — including a top-15 showdown—as the season continues.  News9
  • Coach Brent Venables said (ahead of next week's Alabama game) that the Sooners are gaining confidence with new players and have become the third-best rushing offense in the conference (despite injury challenges). He said the team will focus on early-down efficiency and smart play to finish opportunities and control the game.  News9
  • SEC football Week 11 has a light schedule today as five teams—including Oklahoma—sit out while key games like Georgia at Mississippi State and LSU at Alabama are set to take place. Analysts forecast tight contests with Ole Miss expected to dominate The Citadel and Texas A&M predicted to remain unbeaten in a close game at Missouri.  The Oklahoman
