BUSINESS NEWS

  • OG&E confirmed to The Transcript that an equipment issue caused Saturday's power outage, leaving about 20,000 customers without power — the company said the faulty equipment needed repair or replacement.  The Norman Transcript

CULTURE NEWS

  • Principal Chief David Hill of the Muscogee Nation issued an executive order to save the Muscogee and Euchee languages, which lost many speakers during COVID-19 — fewer than 300 fluent speakers remain. The order creates a task force, funds early childhood language programs, and plans to protect the languages' intellectual property — securing their cultural heritage for the future.  KGOU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OU communications professor Yaguang Zhu resigned during class on November 6, alleging months of bullying and discrimination that led to low evaluation scores; department chair Timothy Levine denies the claims and has taken over his classes for the rest of the semester—OU asserts its review supports Levine’s leadership.  OU Daily
  • Oklahoma public schools will not adopt new social studies textbooks next year—since the academic standards are still being reviewed by state officials and pending a resolution. State leaders expect to have final standards by February so publishers can bid again.  KGOU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lu Dort scored 17 points Monday night in the Thunder's win against the Pelicans and said his impact comes from making key defensive plays—moves that do not show up on the box score—highlighting how he built his name on the team.  The Oklahoman
  • The Sooners will host LSU in their regular-season finale at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, and the sold-out game will be shown on ABC or ESPN.  The Oklahoman
