  • City Care and City Rescue Mission each received $2.5 million from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund+ boosting shelter, shuttle, and housing services for people facing homelessness; the donation marks City Care’s largest gift ever.  KGOU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OU's Academic Programs Council is meeting Friday at 2 p.m. over Zoom to consider changing eight bachelor's degrees to 90-credit hour specialty programs, including social work, cybersecurity and applied artificial intelligence. The proposed changes reduce credits by 30 to offer a streamlined path into high-demand fields.  OU Daily
  • Norman Public Schools received OSDE report cards Monday that detailed academic performance, growth, and opportunity. The report (including statewide benchmarks such as 26% proficiency in English Language Arts and math and 30% in science) offers insight into student achievement.  The Norman Transcript

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Norman began road pretreatment operations ahead of a winter mix expected to bring light snow, sleet and isolated bands of heavier precipitation that may create hazardous road conditions—officials said the National Weather Service warned that roads could become slick.  The Norman Transcript

SPORTS NEWS

  • After Tuesday night's ranking confirmed their playoff berth, the Sooners secured a College Football Playoffs spot with a final rank between No. 8 and No. 10. Finishing at No. 8 will let them host a first-round game while a lower rank means playing away.  The Oklahoman
  • Deacon Schmitt, a Windsor High senior and four-star offensive lineman, signed with Oklahoma football on Dec. 3 and will play in the Colorado Class 3A state championship at Colorado State University on Dec. 6.  The Oklahoman
