EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, more than half of Oklahoma’s public colleges requested tuition hikes for the upcoming school year with 15 institutions asking for increases averaging 1.9 percent while 10 did not – state regents voted on the proposals on Thursday and college leaders said the hikes were needed to cover rising costs such as inflation and higher health insurance expenses.  KGOU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Paul Abner now leads the Oklahoma Life Foundation—a nonprofit in charge of millions in state money to help pregnant women by reimbursing groups that offer services such as ultrasounds, mental health care and transportation. The organization will manage its own process for selecting partners instead of using a competitive bid as it allocates funds from the Choosing Childbirth program.  KGOU
  • Gov. Kevin Stitt signed an executive order on June 26 that ended the state’s recommendation of fluoridation in public water systems and removed artificial food coloring from government-funded food programs as part of the Make Oklahoma Healthy Again initiative.
