- ➤ Norman City Council approved the purchase of Griffin Community Park from the State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for $3,306,811.48 — with a $500,000 credit applied after over six years of leasing the property as a soccer complex — on July 22. Council members reviewed proposals for a housing development with about 1,800 affordable homes and a pedestrian bridge, and city leaders will have a chance to buy the remainder once state operations move to Oklahoma City and new facility plans are completed.
